Dr. Preston A. Walker, Jr., PT, DPT, Cert. DN – Owner
Dr. Preston “Rusty” Walker, PT, DPT, owner and physical therapist, has over twenty five years experience in physical therapy, including working in orthopedics, acute care, neurological rehab, home health and pediatrics. He grew up in Raleigh, NC and graduated Magna Cum Laude from North Carolina State University in 1992. He received his Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2003 and, later, went on to receive his Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2013. While at UNC, Rusty was the President of the Student Physical Therapy Association and received the Margaret L. Moore Student Recognition Award.
Rusty’s areas of interest include post-operative rehab, manual therapy and dry needling He has received Certification in Dry Needling and Advanced Training in Spinal Manipulation from the American Academy of Manipulative Therapy AAMT.
Dr. Walker is a member of the Orthopedic Section of the American Physical Therapy Association.
Rusty is a true believer in cross training. He enjoys spending time with his family, surfing, paddling, running, biking and practicing yoga.
Meghan Karol, PT, DPT
Meghan joined our Sneads Ferry team June 2016. She earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy from University of Maryland, Baltimore in 2011 and since then has focused her practice in Outpatient Orthopedics and developing her specialty in Vestibular Therapy as well as Balance and Fall Prevention. Meghan’s first clinic offered specialized care in Vestibular Therapy and worked in the same office space as an otoneurologist offering her invaluable hands on experience early in her career. In 2015, she attended a week-long advanced training course to further her Vestibular training to help patients manage vertigo, disequilibrium and balance issues.
Meghan highly values one-on-one patient treatment time providing individualized focus to each patient to maximize their successful outcomes. She emphasizes education to allow patients to better understand how they can best manage their own recovery and long-term management of their condition.
Meghan moved to Sneads Ferry in 2014 and has loved having the opportunity to live so close to the beach. Meghan and her family try to get out to the beach every weekend during the warm weather to take full advantage of it while they live here.
Haley Jones, DPT
Haley Jones, DPT joined Hampstead Physical Therapy in December of 2016. Haley, a central Virginia native, has experience in a variety of clinical settings including acute care, orthopedics, neurological rehabilitation and home health.
Haley graduated from High Point University with a BS in Exercise Science in 2002. She earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in 2005 from Virginial Commonweatlh University. Healy’s clinical interest include orthopedics, neurological rehabilitation, balance and falls risk reduction. Haley also received a certificate of competency in vestibular rehabilitation from Emory University and is experienced in treating vestibular disorders, including BPPV and hypofunction to assist in managing vertigo balance issues.
Haley Values one on one individualized care to provide optimal outcomes and restore functional mobility. Haley and her husband, Brandon enjoy spending time with their two children, Taylor and Evan. They enjoy swimming, riding bikes and spending time at the beach.
Heather Koopman, PT, DPT
Heather obtained her Doctorate in Physical Therapy at East Carolina University in 2016 and her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology at Campbell University in 2013. Heather has had experience working with all populations – children to adults. She has a strong interest in the orthopedic setting and plans to pursue dry needling credentialing to ultimately achieve her Certified Myofascial Trigger Point Therapist (CMTPT) distinction.
In her free time, Heather enjoys exercising, cooking, baking, crafting, and spending time at the beach. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, dog and husband. Heather is a big fan of Campbell University athletics and was a cheerleader during her undergrad days. Go Camels!
Mike White, PT, DPT
Mike grew up in Bogue, NC before going to ECU for his undergraduate degree. From there he went on to teach at the middle and high school level while coaching wrestling, baseball, and football. After that he went back to ECU to get his doctorate in physical therapy and has been practicing since 2010. He enjoys working with patients of all diagnoses and helping them return to the things that they love doing. When Mike is not at work he enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, endurance running, and paddle boarding.
Paula Rock, PT
Paula Rock graduated from Quinnipiac College Hamden, CT in 1994 with a BS in Physical Therapy. She has worked in a variety of settings over the years before joining the Hampstead Physical Therapy team in 2012. Paula enjoys working with patients of all ages and orthopedic diagnosis. She lives in Hampstead with her husband and daughter. Paula enjoys running, triathlon and spending time at the beach with her family.
Candice Maas, PT, DPT
Candice joined Sneads Ferry Physical Therapy in November 2019. Candice completed her undergraduate studies from Frostburg State University in Maryland where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science in 2013. She obtained her Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree from Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania in 2017. Her experience in the outpatient orthopedic setting has inspired her to pursue Manual Therapy Certification. Candice’s interests include helping individuals return to their prior level of function, helping athletes return to sports and decreasing risks of injuries. She and her husband moved to Hampstead, North Carolina in 2019 where she enjoys running, walks with her dog, going to the beach and spending time with her husband.
Tiffany Miers, PTA
Tiffany joined Hampstead Physical Therapy in October of 2008. Tiffany graduated from UNCW with a B.S. in Psychology and from CPCC, Charlotte, with an Associates of Physical Therapy. Tiffany works primarily at the Sneads Ferry clinic but can be seen at the two other locations from time to time. Tiffany and her family are originally from Jacksonville, NC, but have lived in Holly Ridge for the past 7 years. They enjoy going to the beach, relaxing in the pool and spending time with family.
Tina Chambers, PTA, LMBT
Tina Chambers, PTA, is a Wilmington native, and graduated in 1998 from Fayetteville Technical Community College with her Physical Therapy Assistants Associates Degree. Also, a Licensed Massage Therapist, her specialty is the manual aspect of physical therapy. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter, reading, flower gardening, paddle boarding and vacationing in the mountains of NC.
Billing Specialist & SFPT Office Manager
Geri joined us in February of 2009 and is the primary billing specialist for our practice. She also serves as the office manager in our Sneads Ferry office. With many years’ experience in the medical billing industry we consider her an expert. Her primary focus is to provide our patients any administrative help they may need. Residing in the Hampstead area for well over 20 years, she has enjoyed raising three children. Being fond of travel, she particularly prizes visiting our beautiful states mountain region and loves get-aways to admire the refreshing scenery. When you visit our Sneads Ferry office you will always be greeted with a smile.
Tiffany Walker, Administrator & Insurance Specialist
Tiffany Walker graduated with a degree in Business Management from North Carolina State University. After working for several different companies over nine years and having a baby, she and Rusty decided to open Hampstead Physical Therapy.
Her business background and hands on knowledge of insurance enables her to handle all aspects of billing and claims and gerenal administration. Rusty and Tiffany have a son Preston and live in Hampstead where they really enjoy the small community, the beach and their family time.
Debbie Fussell, Billing Specialist & Topsail PT Administrator
Debbie is clinical support for our Topsail Office and also assists with billing and collections for all 3 locations. With over 18 years of outpatient clinic/hospital billing experience she is a valuable asset to our company. Debbie and her husband Carl have always loved vacationing at Topsail Island so much they moved here 2 years ago from Duplin County. She enjoys spending time with her family and relaxing on the beach. When you visit our Topsail office you will always be greeted with a smile.
Kallie Brabender, Front Desk Extraordinaire
Originally from the Pacific Northwest, Kallie moved to North Carolina with her husband Brandon, in 2013. As the first face you see in the office, you’ll always be welcomed with a genuine smile. She is currently attending UNCW perusing her bachelor’s in biology. In their free time, Kallie and her husband enjoy spending time with their two Dobermans, Penny and Panzer. They also enjoy camping, hiking, and exploring throughout North Carolina.
Tiffany Byrd, Front Desk Extraordinaire
Tiffany comes to us from Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. She has lived here in North Carolina now for 9 years with her husband Mike and two children Timothy and Mailyn. Tiffany loves it here at the beach.
In her free time, Tiffany loves going to the beach to search for sea glass and has amassed a pretty good collection over the years. She also enjoys spending time with her family, helping her husband with his furniture building business, and loves cooking
Tiffany loves working here at Hampstead Physical Therapy. She enjoys the work environment, interacting with both our therapists and, of course, our wonderful patients.
